PART TWO. EXPLORING.
BATE
Daniel David Freeman
BATE is Freeman’s debut publication featuring a collection of musings (collated as a series of posters) on the experience of being an artist. The 32 A2 back-to-back posters fold into a 64 page A3 publication, bound by an orange elastic loop and is housed in a screen printed bag. The posters are littered with bold graphic elements and text, and the pencil features the words “Existential Crisis”. The publication also comes with a foreword by Francesca Gavin, a carpenters pencil, a Mono Lisa postcard, and 5 stickers. There is 250 copies, all signed and numbered.
I discovered this publication in a graphics and photography shop; I was intrigued by the material experimentation and the merging of graphics and art.
