PART TWO. EXPLORING.
Community Memory
Mike Tully
2020
Inspired by the historical Community Memory Project, the first public computer-based bulletin board system created in the 1970s. Mike Tully’s Community Memory explores archives, memory and collective experiences with themes of cultural memory and digital interfaces and a focus on sound and visual artistry. Tully involves a blend of storytelling and interactive art to evoke emotional and sensory responses to history and identity, which has inspired many of my design projects to be user-focused and enriched with purpose and
stories.
The works featured here include: Community Memory Project, Retrospecta 44. Publication for Yale School of Architecture, Paprika! Volume 6, Issue 3: “A Field: To Seed or Not to Seed.”, AM Radio with Alvin Ashiatey, Nico Wheadon Lecture Announcement, and “On Community Memory” for Are.na Annual 2022.
Tully often collaborates with other designers on a vast range of project types, giving his work multiperspectivity and diversifying his portfolio.
