PART TWO. EXPLORING.
Zürich Museum Japanese Exhibition Design
Skala Design Studio
2024
The Japanese graphic design exhibition designed by Skala Design Studio showcases contemporary Japanese graphic design from designers born between 1973 and 1993. The design choices by Skala communicate the collective aesthetic of Japanese contemporary through cohesive spatial arrangement, neutral colour schemes, sans-serif typefaces and a minimalist approach.
I found this exhibition design randomly one day and become inspired by its simple yet effective visual language, so had to feature it here.
Skala doesn’t just stop at exhibition design, they also craft visual identity, animation, web, wayfinding, illustration, and typographic design projects, often combining these crafts to deliver dynamic and well rounded outcomes. Other Skala projects that have become great inspirations to me as a designer include, ‘Plants Intelligence’, ‘Collection Insights’, and ‘Kunststipendien der Stadt Zürich 2022‘ to name a few.
